Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19, Bendrigg remains closed to all visitors. We have had no residential groups onsite since the end of March 2020, everywhere is eerily quiet and we miss our groups more than we can say. The Impact of Covid-19 continues to be felt across all areas of outdoor activities and many centres are struggling to survive. Bendrigg was fortunate to enter this crisis in a strong financial position but we don’t know when things might start to get back to normal and every month that goes by depletes our reserves further. We want to be here for you when you are ready to return, and so I am writing to ask for your help.
In order for places like ours to survive the pandemic we need the Government to step in and provide a support package for outdoor education centres, as they have done in Scotland and Ireland. We need to promote the #SaveOutdoorEd campaign widely to protect our future and the vital role outdoor centres will play in the health and well-being of our community after the pandemic.
I hope you can spare the time to go to the Bendrigg blog, https://www.bendrigg.org.uk/save-outdoor-ed/ for details about the campaign and how you can support us. I would be grateful if you could share this with your colleagues, friends and family asking them to take action too. On social media use the hashtag #SaveOutdoorEd and tag @BendriggTrust so we can share/retweet your posts.
Thank you very much for your time and for your support. We hope that we will be able to welcome you back to Bendrigg again soon – we can’t wait!
